The Department of Counseling and Clinical Psychology at Tongmyong University held a special lecture on October 29, inviting Park Sangmi, a clinical psychologist from the Busan Juvenile Detention Center, to speak on the topic of "Psychological Understanding and Therapeutic Approaches to Juvenile Delinquency."
This lecture was organized to provide an in-depth understanding of the psychological causes of juvenile delinquency and to share therapeutic approaches that can be applied in correctional and counseling settings.
The lecture covered practical topics such as procedures for handling juvenile protection cases, the psychological background of delinquent behavior, emotional regulation training, and the role of clinicians. Students had the opportunity to enhance their counseling and clinical skills through real-world case studies.
Kim Minjeong, head of the Department of Counseling and Clinical Psychology at Tongmyong University, stated, "Clinical psychologists at juvenile detention centers are dedicated to helping young people recover emotionally, even in challenging environments. I hope this special lecture will serve as an opportunity for students to build practical counseling competencies."
The Department of Counseling and Clinical Psychology at Tongmyong University offers counseling education programs for various age groups, including children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly, from a lifespan perspective.
