GS Engineering & Construction Leads Smart Construction and Residential Innovation with Off-Site Technology

GS Engineering & Construction is making moves to lead the advancement of off-site construction (OSC) technology by showcasing its expertise optimized for precast concrete (PC) structures, surpassing traditional reinforced concrete residential structures.

On November 3, GS Engineering & Construction announced that its PC manufacturing subsidiary, GPC, held an OSC technology seminar titled "Innovation in Safe, Eco-Friendly, and Future Housing" in collaboration with Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) and the Korea Structural Engineers Association. At the seminar, the company unveiled next-generation PC apartment products and structural technologies.

During the seminar, GS Engineering & Construction presented a next-generation housing model that integrates OSC methods-combining factory production and on-site assembly-with the lifestyle philosophy of its residential brand, Xi, under the theme "A New Proposal Responding to Changing Customer Lifestyles."

The "Xi PC Platform" introduced at the event adopts a frame structure that allows for flexible floor plans, unlike conventional wall-type reinforced concrete structures. This approach enhances the product value compared to traditional load-bearing wall structures and enables diverse spatial designs.

Additionally, GS Engineering & Construction introduced not only new floor plans for PC apartment buildings but also OSC construction methods and current industry trends at the seminar. As one of the most active companies in the industry in pursuing prefab (prefabricated housing) initiatives, GS Engineering & Construction plans to continue sharing research achievements and discussing system improvements to expand the PC industry in collaboration with public institutions and the Korea Structural Engineers Association.

GS Engineering & Construction has completed verification of shortened construction periods by modeling the conversion of all construction processes to PC apartment buildings based on existing completed complexes. The company aims to complete full-scale market validation of PC construction method apartment buildings by the end of this year and will actively participate in public PC apartment projects starting next year.

A GS Engineering & Construction representative stated, "The OSC construction method is a core technology that drives both the digitalization and eco-friendliness of construction," adding, "Through technology, Xi will grow as a brand that innovates everyday quality and designs customers' futures."
