The Korea Real Estate Development Association (KODA) is establishing the Korea Real Estate Development Industry Institute (K-REDII) to strengthen the public value and policy capabilities of the real estate development industry. On the 3rd, the association announced, "The institute will hold its official launch ceremony during the main event of the 20th anniversary celebration, 'A.N.D 20,' which will take place on November 20 at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in Samseong-dong, Seoul, and will begin its full-scale activities."
The establishment of this institute aims to evolve the association's policy research office into an independent research organization, with the purpose of exploring the future direction and public role of the real estate development industry from a national perspective, beyond merely understanding the industry itself. This initiative stems from the recognition that, although real estate development is an industry that creates spaces for housing and economic activity and thus possesses significant public value, there is a lack of specialized research infrastructure to support it.
The Korea Real Estate Development Industry Institute has set forth its vision as "a hub of research driving innovation and advancement in the real estate development industry and ensuring stability in housing and daily life for the public." Its key research projects include: ▲ studies on advanced development models, ▲ policy proposals for public-private partnership urban development, ▲ research on real estate development finance and business feasibility analysis, and ▲ studies on rational housing policies and institutional improvements.
The institute will be organized around a board of directors and a research headquarters, and will establish a collaborative network among industry, academia, and public institutions. It plans to operate an advisory group of industry experts to promptly address field issues, and to expand joint research with academia and research institutes to ensure objectivity and balance. In addition, the institute aims to present practical alternatives needed by the public sector through policy research in collaboration with the government, local governments, and public institutions.
Kim Seungbae, Chairman of the Korea Real Estate Development Association, stated, "The Korea Real Estate Development Industry Institute represents a new challenge for the association to lead the future of the real estate development industry and fulfill its social responsibilities. We hope that the institute will continue to conduct practical policy research for the advancement of the industry and the stabilization of public housing." He added, "Member companies and industry stakeholders who share the purpose of establishing the institute are voluntarily making donations, for which we are deeply grateful."
Meanwhile, the launch of the institute will be one of the main programs at KODA's 20th anniversary event, 'A.N.D 20.' The event will begin with a pre-dinner with international guests on November 19, followed by the Global Developer Conference and the 20th anniversary ceremony on November 20. The program will include the 'NEXT 20 Vision Declaration,' the 'Korea Real Estate Development Industry Institute Launch Ceremony,' and the 'KODA Developer Awards.'
