Hyundai Motor Group Partners with Singapore HTX for Future Mobility Technology Collaboration

Technology Demonstration Project for Singapore Government Fleet by 2028
Collaboration Based on Kia PBV Platform

Hyundai Motor Group is joining forces with the Singaporean government to accelerate global advanced technology cooperation that will drive future mobility innovation.

On November 2, Hyundai Motor Group announced that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for innovative technology cooperation based on mobility collaboration with the Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX), an agency under Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs, at the 'K-Tech Showcase' venue in Gyeongju Expo Grand Park during the 2025 APEC Summit week.

The signing ceremony, held on October 31, was attended by Sung Kim, President of Strategic Planning at Hyundai Motor Group; Ilbeom Kim, Vice President of GPO at Hyundai Motor Group; Hyunseong Park, Head of Hyundai Motor Group Singapore Global Innovation Center (HMGICS); Chan Shan, Chief of HTX; and Sim Ann, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs of Singapore, along with other key figures from Hyundai Motor Group and the Singaporean government.

HTX is a research agency under the Singapore Ministry of Home Affairs, established in 2019 to strengthen national security through the development of scientific and technological capabilities. Through this agreement, Hyundai Motor Group and HTX will begin with a technology demonstration collaboration for Singapore government-operated fleet vehicles and plan to jointly explore research and application possibilities across future core technologies such as robotics and hydrogen.

To enhance the efficiency of the Singapore Ministry of Home Affairs’ vehicle operation system, Hyundai Motor Group will carry out a demonstration project for a multi-purpose modular electrification platform by the end of 2028. This marks the first technology demonstration project targeting government-operated fleets in Singapore.

The Singapore Ministry of Home Affairs has previously imported and modified various complete vehicles for different purposes. However, the excessive fragmentation of platforms and the difficulty in redesigning vehicles have limited operational flexibility and efficiency improvements.

To address this, Hyundai Motor Group plans to present a solution based on the Kia Purpose-Built Vehicle (PBV), which features modular architecture and innovative body design technology. Specifically, by utilizing the various technical components of the PBV, the goal is to provide a total mobility solution that enables integration of the fleet platform and multi-purpose usage.

This demonstration project is expected to be linked to the Singapore Ministry of Home Affairs’ future electric vehicle transition policies and contribute to the establishment of a sustainable transportation infrastructure by the Singaporean government. Hyundai Motor Group plans to further support vehicle development technology and directly supply operational vehicles through a three-party collaboration with HMGICS and HTX, thereby driving mobility innovation in Singapore.

Vice President Ilbeom Kim stated, "Hyundai Motor Group has laid the foundation for realizing public mobility innovation in collaboration with the Singaporean government, based on our proprietary technology. Alongside mobility technology demonstrations, we will continue to lead global innovation based on future technologies such as robotics and hydrogen."

HTX Chief Chan Shan commented, "All of HTX’s collaborations aim to equip us with more advanced equipment and smarter systems through the development of science and technology. Through this partnership with Hyundai Motor Group, we expect to expand the boundaries of future mobility technology and apply cutting-edge innovation to actual HTX operations."
