Last year, the production value of forest products approached 7.4 trillion won. By region, North Gyeongsang Province recorded the largest production value, followed by Gangwon Province, South Gyeongsang Province, and South Jeolla Province.
The Korea Forest Service announced the results of the "2024 Forest Products Production Survey" on October 31. According to the survey, the total production value of forest products last year was 7.3785 trillion won, an increase of 248.7 billion won (3.5%) compared to 7.1298 trillion won in 2023.
In detail, the production value of medicinal plants such as Schisandra chinensis and yam, which are short-term income forest products, was 671.5 billion won last year, up 3.8% from the previous year. The production value of fruits such as Korean black raspberry and persimmon reached 607.3 billion won, an increase of 3.5%, while the value of stone and gravel for construction and aggregate use was 1.4188 trillion won, up 5.0% respectively.
By region, North Gyeongsang Province posted the largest production value at 1.3866 trillion won. This was followed by Gangwon Province with 1.3005 trillion won, South Gyeongsang Province with 955.6 billion won, and South Jeolla Province with 819.5 billion won.

Meanwhile, the Forest Products Production Survey is conducted to investigate the production volume and value of 145 items across 14 types of forest products, including short-term income forest products such as fruits, medicinal plants, and wild edible greens, as well as net standing timber, timber, and stone and gravel. The survey has been designated as national approved statistics (No. 136006) since 1976. The aggregated data serve as basic reference material for establishing forestry policies, including regional forest product supply and demand policies.
