Yeongju City Holds 29th Yeongju Citizen Award Ceremony

A total of three teams and individuals honored
in local economy, volunteer service, culture, and sports categories

On October 30, Yeongju City in North Gyeongsang Province held the '29th Yeongju Citizen Award Ceremony' at the city hall auditorium.


The 'Yeongju Citizen Award' is presented to citizens who have demonstrated outstanding achievements through dedication and volunteer service for the development of the local community.

This year, awards were given to three recipients: the Hi-Tech Bearing Technology Center (organization) in the local economic revitalization category, Lee Jaemin in the volunteer and filial piety category, and Kim Gijin in the culture and sports category.



The Hi-Tech Bearing Technology Center (Director Kim Jonghyeong), winner in the local economic revitalization category, played a key role in establishing the Yeongju Advanced Bearing Industry Cluster. The center contributed to strengthening the competitiveness of local companies by signing 13 business agreements and providing equipment support for over 24,000 cases. Director Kim stated, "This achievement was made possible by both our staff and the citizens," and added, "We will strive to make Yeongju the center of the bearing industry through technological innovation and business support."


Lee Jaemin, recipient in the volunteer and filial piety category, has served for over 20 years as the head and advisor of the Yeongju City Volunteer Crime Prevention Corps, working on traffic control, patrols, youth guidance, and searches for missing persons to enhance local safety and prevent crime. As chairperson of the Community Social Security Council, he has also supported vulnerable groups and participated in meal service, accumulating a total of 3,010 hours of volunteer work. Lee said, "I will continue to practice sharing and serving for the community."


Kim Gijin, winner in the culture and sports category, as director of the Yeongju Cultural Center, contributed to preserving the region’s identity and documentary culture by publishing literary works, local historical materials, and collecting and building databases of modern and contemporary records. Director Kim stated, "Protecting the culture and records of Yeongju is my given responsibility," and added, "I will do my best for the development of local culture and the preservation of records."


Yoo Jeonggeun, acting mayor of Yeongju City, expressed his gratitude, saying, "I thank those who have dedicated themselves in various fields for the development of Yeongju and the well-being of our residents," and added, "We will actively seek out and recognize individuals who contribute to our community."


The Yeongju Citizen Award, established in 1996, marks its 29th year this year, with a total of 90 honorees recognized to date.
