Hallym University (President Choi Yanghee) has officially introduced its AI-based "Researcher Matching AI Service," opening a new horizon for interdisciplinary research collaboration.
This service is one of the core achievements of the Ministry of Education's "Glocal University 30" project. It aims to break down barriers between academic fields and help researchers find optimal collaboration partners, thereby maximizing synergy.
Until now, joint research within universities has tended to rely on researchers' personal networks, making it difficult to find experts in other fields or to form large-scale interdisciplinary research teams. In particular, assembling the best team to quickly respond to government and industry Requests for Proposals (RFPs), which often require complex technologies, has always been a significant challenge.
The "Researcher Matching AI Service" introduced by Hallym University is an AI solution designed to address these chronic issues. When a researcher enters an idea in natural language, the AI recommends the most suitable experts within the university. If a complex document such as an RFP is uploaded, the system automatically analyzes the key requirements and presents a list of researchers optimized for the project.
Notably, this system integrates data from both Hallym University faculty and full-time clinical professors at Hallym University Medical Center, drawing attention for its potential to dramatically enhance research collaboration between the university and the medical center. This aligns with the vision expressed by President Choi Yanghee at his inauguration as the 12th president on September 10, when he stated, "Based on our outstanding achievements in the medical and bio fields, the university and medical center will work together to secure a position as a global leader."
Through the introduction of this service, Hallym University plans to foster a culture in which researchers freely collaborate across academic boundaries and to strengthen its competitiveness in securing large-scale national projects, thereby elevating the university's research capabilities. This is expected to serve as an important stepping stone toward realizing Hallym University's glocal vision of being an "open university cultivating creative convergence talent based on AI education."
