Fireworks and Drone Show Highlighting the Strength of Steel and Pohang's Future-Oriented City Image
'Fireworks & Drone Show' at Yeongildae Beach,
Followed by 'Firework Display' at Songdo Beach
Pohang City will present the 'Pohang Fireworks Show' at Yeongildae Beach and Songdo Beach during the APEC Summit Week in 2025 to commemorate the hosting of the APEC Summit.
The main event, the 'Fireworks & Drone Show,' will open the festivities at 7 p.m. on the 29th at Yeongildae Beach (at the Clock Tower of Light) under the theme 'A Sustainable Tomorrow We Create Together.'
The event will kick off with performances by Lee Heemun Obangsin, the winning team from KBS2's Immortal Songs 10th Anniversary, and Kaju Showtime, a renowned hip-hop artist and DJ. This will be followed by a robotics performance from 'IYHFY,' produced by the Pohang Cultural Foundation, expressing the resilient vitality of the industrial city of Pohang and its steadfast determination toward a sustainable future.
Next, a drone art show will depict symbols of Pohang and commemorative messages for the APEC Summit, and finally, a fireworks display will colorfully illuminate the night sky over Yeongildae Beach, visually representing the APEC Summit's theme through music and fireworks.
The sub-event, 'Songdo Firework Display,' will take place at 7:30 p.m. on November 1 at Songdo Beach (near the Songdo Goddess Statue). The Dumunri Firework Preservation Society will present a 200-meter-wide traditional firework show, accompanied by calligraphy and fusion Korean traditional music performances, as well as a mini fireworks display, further enhancing the festive atmosphere.
This event will be held in collaboration with the Marine Gourmet Festival, which will take place nearby from October 31 to November 1, offering visitors a variety of programs to satisfy all five senses, including sights, food, and entertainment.
Pohang City expects this festival to serve as an opportunity to showcase the city's dignity and cultural appeal to APEC business delegates staying at Yeongilman Port cruise ships.
Given that this is a large-scale nighttime event, the city will operate a joint situation room with related agencies and assign safety personnel to different zones to thoroughly prevent safety accidents.
Mayor Lee Kangdeok stated, "By actively promoting our city to APEC officials visiting Pohang for the APEC Summit, we aim to build a prestigious city brand and further vitalize exchanges in the industrial, cultural, and tourism sectors of our city."
