Solus Advanced Materials reported consolidated sales of 145.1 billion won and an operating loss of 21.2 billion won in the third quarter of this year. Compared to the same period last year, when the company posted sales of 134.7 billion won and an operating loss of 21 billion won, sales increased by 7.8%. However, the company was unable to escape from losses due to the burden of fixed costs and the impact of exchange rates.
On October 28, Solus Advanced Materials announced its third-quarter 2025 results through a public disclosure. The growth in sales was driven by the copper foil and OLED businesses. The copper foil division saw sales increase by 55.4%, from 49.3 billion won to 76.6 billion won, thanks to the expanded mass production of high-end products for artificial intelligence (AI) accelerators. The OLED segment also grew by 5.6% due to increased supply of mobile products and the acquisition of new customers.
On the other hand, the copper foil for batteries division recorded 36.4 billion won, a decrease of 33.8% compared to the previous year, due to the prolonged stagnation in the electric vehicle market.
Solus Advanced Materials expects to complete its goal of expanding the number of copper foil for batteries customers from four to eight during the second half of the year. The company is currently in contract negotiations with a global battery manufacturer based in Europe. In addition, the company expects its Hungarian plant to benefit from the revival of subsidy policies and the strengthening of manufacturing in Europe.
In the OLED business, research and development of next-generation materials, such as the 'green phosphorescent host,' a core organic emitting material, and the 'low dielectric new material,' which reduces electrical interference, are becoming more tangible in addition to existing products. The company announced that, following the completion of its new integrated plant in Hamyeol, North Jeolla Province, in the fourth quarter of this year, production efficiency and cost competitiveness are expected to improve.
CEO Kwak Geunman said, "Solus Advanced Materials is the only copper foil for batteries company with production bases in both Europe and North America," adding, "We will enter a full-fledged growth phase in line with the recovery of the European electric vehicle market and the reorganization of the regional supply chain."
