The Goryeong Cultural Tourism Foundation (Chairman Lee Namcheol) officially announced its launch by holding an inauguration ceremony at the Ureuk Hall of the Daegaya Culture Nuri Center on the 27th. This event was organized to mark the beginning of a new leap forward in the development of culture and tourism in Goryeong County.
The inauguration ceremony began with a congratulatory performance, followed by the national pledge, introduction of distinguished guests, a report on the foundation's establishment process, commemorative and congratulatory speeches, an introduction of the foundation's corporate identity, and a vision performance under the theme "The Beginning of a New Story." Afterwards, attendees moved to the main gate of the Daegaya Living Village Children's Science Museum for a plaque unveiling ceremony, celebrating the foundation's launch together.
The Goryeong Cultural Tourism Foundation is an incorporated organization established to pursue the county's festivals and culture and tourism policies in a more systematic and strategic manner. Goryeong County began by formulating a master plan in 2023, followed by a feasibility study and gathering of residents' opinions in 2024, and a review by the Gyeongsangbuk-do investment and contribution institution establishment committee. Subsequently, all procedures were completed without delay, including the enactment of the ordinance in March 2025, the appointment of board members through a public recruitment process from May to July, the inaugural general meeting in August, and the approval and registration of the corporation in September. In addition, on October 17, the recruitment of staff was completed, finalizing preparations for full-scale operations.
The foundation aims to lead the culture and tourism industries of Goryeong County by strengthening the planning and execution capabilities of major regional festivals such as the Daegaya Festival, developing competitive tourism content utilizing historical, cultural, and natural resources, and creating a culture and tourism ecosystem in collaboration with local residents.
Currently, the foundation operates with two teams: the Management Support Team and the Content Promotion Team. It plans to gradually expand its organization by establishing a Facility Operations Team in the second half of 2026 and forming a Culture and Arts Team in the future. The office is located on the second floor of Jusanseong in the Daegaya Living Village, and it will serve as the core platform for the development of culture and tourism in Goryeong County.
Chairman Lee Namcheol stated, "The launch of the foundation marks a new leap forward for culture and tourism in Goryeong County. We will strategically utilize the region's historical and cultural assets to promote sustainable development and further strengthen the county's competitiveness through creative initiatives."
