The Mathematics and Science Creativity Class is open to students residing in Changwon Special City who are recipients of basic livelihood security, belong to the lower-income or near-poor brackets, are from single-parent or grandparent-headed families, multicultural families, or have financial difficulties, and who are recognized as having exceptional talent in these fields and are recommended by their school principal.

The program will select a total of 65 students, divided into four classes: three elementary classes (51 students) for current third to fifth graders, and one middle school class (14 students) for current sixth graders.

The selection process consists of two stages: document screening, followed by written and interview examinations. The interview will assess creative problem-solving abilities across the elementary mathematics and science curriculum, focusing on creativity and giftedness rather than prior learning or acquired knowledge.

The curriculum is designed as holistic education to foster outstanding and well-rounded science and engineering talent, integrating basic and advanced areas of mathematics and science (physics, chemistry, biology), academic and life guidance by university (graduate) students, as well as experiential activities such as science field trips and special lectures on AI and software.

The 2026 Mathematics and Science Creativity Class will begin with an entrance ceremony on March 21 next year and will run for 10 months until the end of the year. Applications will be accepted from October 28 to November 11. Choi Jeonggyu, Director of Lifelong Education, stated, “This is an important program that provides high-quality educational opportunities to socially disadvantaged students in the region by utilizing the university’s excellent faculty and facilities. We hope many interested students will apply.”
