The Organizing Committee introduced the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo, highlighting islands and the sea, as well as marine tourism resources that are not easily accessible in Mongolia, emphasizing the necessity and appeal of visiting Yeosu.
This briefing session was organized as a familiarization tour to develop educational tourism products, following the friendship exchange agreement signed between South Jeolla Province and Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on September 5. The Mongolian education officials spent a day in Yeosu, experiencing unique local attractions such as yachting and the Yeosu Night Sea Tour.
A Mongolian education official stated, "We fully support the purpose of the Islands Expo," and added, "We will plan a school excursion so that Mongolian students can visit the Islands Expo in October next year."
The Organizing Committee plans to coordinate detailed schedules and travel products in collaboration with the Mongolia branch of the Korea Tourism Organization, and, together with the Organization, will develop educational travel programs to allow Mongolian youth to experience Yeosu’s islands and sea firsthand, with the aim of attracting additional visitors.
In addition, the Organizing Committee is preparing to increase irregular international flights to attract more overseas visitors, and will also promote travel package programs targeting Mongolian visitors to Korea.
An official from the Organizing Committee stated, "We hope that this briefing session will lead to the realization of visits by groups of Mongolian students during the 2026 Islands Expo."
Meanwhile, as of now, 14 countries and 15 cities, including the Philippines, Peru, Japan, China, Timor-Leste, Greece, Vietnam, France, and Estonia, have expressed their intention to participate in the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo.
