CJ ENM announced on October 20 that Director Park Chan-wook has won the Best Director Award at the 58th Sitges Film Festival for the film "No Other Choice."
The Sitges Film Festival, held in Spain, is the world's largest genre film festival, spotlighting works that demonstrate creative imagination and genre excellence in areas such as fantasy and horror.
Director Park has previously received several awards at the festival, including Best Picture for "Oldboy" (2004), Best FX for "Three, Monster" (2004), Best Screenplay for "I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK" (2007), Best Picture for "Night Fishing" (2011), and the Audience Award for "The Handmaiden" (2017).
"No Other Choice" tells the story of Mansu (played by Lee Byung-hun), a laid-off office worker who attempts to get re-employed in order to protect his family, leading to a series of events. The film was invited to the competition section of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival and received the International Audience Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. It was also featured at the New York Film Festival, London International Film Festival, and Miami International Film Festival.
