The 2025 Sokcho International Food Film Festival, the only international food film festival in Korea, will be held from October 23 to 26 at Sokcho Beach and the surrounding Centum Mark area. The festival will also feature Masil Cine, with ten local businesses participating as screening venues, filling the entire city of Sokcho with films and food.
Now in its second year, the Sokcho International Food Film Festival offers a diverse array of programs that highlight Sokcho’s unique food culture alongside the rich culinary traditions of the world.
The opening ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m. on October 23 at Sokcho Beach, offering a special experience that combines a cinema concert with Spanish gourmet cuisine. Until October 26, the festival will present a variety of domestic and international food films through its core program, “The True Colors of Food,” as well as the “Foodie Theater,” where audiences can eat while watching films, interactive “Delicious Talk” sessions, and both international and Korean short film competitions-all running over four days.
The festival has expanded its citizen participation programs. Through community-focused events such as the SIFFF Food Cinema Lab, Book & Cinema, and Cinema Snack Bar, the festival aims to become a collaborative event created by residents and small business owners alike.
The neighborhood food film screening program, Masil Cine, will debut this year. Ten venues-including Soho Cafe & Studio, Bobtail Bakery, Dear Plate, Chowonhaeng, Sayit, Gaetbae Pizza, Our Cozy Place, Imagination Beyond Arts Education, Flavoring Studio, and Time Stop-will serve as screening spaces. This program offers audiences another chance to watch short films featured at the festival, with the first round of screenings running from October 23 to 29.
Advance registration for the festival’s main programs is available on the official website. Details on the films and schedule will be announced sequentially on the official social media channels. Participation in the Masil Cine program is also on a first-come, first-served basis, and more information can be found on the Masil Cine social media accounts.
Chairman Lee Byeongseon (Mayor of Sokcho) stated, “By hosting the only international food film festival in Korea and adding the neighborhood food film screening program, Masil Cine, this year, Sokcho will become a city-wide cinema and festival venue. We hope for active interest and participation in this event, where citizens become the protagonists and visitors can enjoy the taste and charm of Sokcho anywhere in the city.”
