This list is divided into two categories: the 'career-long' standard, which comprehensively evaluates research achievements from 1960 to 2024, and the 'single-year' standard, which assesses performance for the year 2024 alone.

According to Sejong University, 41 researchers affiliated with the university were included in the top 2% worldwide based on the career-long criteria. This is the highest number among domestic comprehensive universities without a medical school.

The Scopus citation data from Elsevier utilizes the composite indicator 'c-score' developed by the Stanford University team led by John P. A. Ioannidis.

This score is a composite of six standardized citation indicators: total citations, h-index, co-authorship-adjusted hm-index, and citations by author position (sole author, first author, and corresponding author).

The research capabilities of domestic universities are generally heavily influenced by the presence of medical schools and affiliated hospitals. Within this structure, Sejong University achieved this result without a medical school.

Um Jonghwa, President of Sejong University, stated, "Sejong University has continuously expanded its research infrastructure and made efforts to attract and support outstanding researchers. Being recognized for world-class research achievements despite the structural limitation of not having a medical school is the result of the collective efforts of all our university members."
