Samcheok City Dokye Nursing Home Opens as a New Haven for Senior Care

On October 17, the city of Samcheok in Gangwon Province held an opening ceremony for the Samcheok City Dokye Nursing Home, located at 16-51, Dokyero 3-gil, Dokye-eup.

The ceremony was attended by more than 150 people, including Samcheok Mayor Sangsoo Park, city council members, and heads of various organizations and institutions. The event included a blessing ceremony, the official opening ceremony, and a tour of the facility.


The Samcheok City Dokye Nursing Home is a project that has been underway since 2017, with a total project cost of approximately 14 billion KRW. The facility consists of a five-story main building (with a total floor area of 3,473.65 square meters) and an annex building (95.85 square meters).


To ensure a stable and comfortable living environment for seniors, the facility includes living quarters, a dining hall, offices, and parking spaces, and can accommodate a total of about 100 people.


In particular, the nursing home was designed with a focus on protecting the rights and safety of the elderly and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. It is expected to make a significant contribution to improving the quality of life for local seniors in this era of an aging population.


Mayor Sangsoo Park stated, "The Samcheok City Dokye Nursing Home is not just a care facility, but will become a 'second family' for our seniors and a hub for community care. We will continue to strengthen the public care system so that seniors can enjoy a happy and comfortable retirement."
