It has been confirmed that additional illegal base station IDs, believed to have been used for unauthorized micro-payments involving KT, have been identified. The number of victims affected by the micro-payment fraud has also increased.

According to industry sources on October 16, the joint public-private investigation team looking into the KT hacking incident has discovered more than 20 new illegal base station IDs, in addition to the four base station IDs previously identified by KT as being used in the crime.

In addition, several more victims of unauthorized micro-payments have been confirmed, raising the total from fewer than 10 previously identified.

KT currently counts the number of victims at 362, while the police, as of October 13, have identified 220 victims. The difference is attributed to variations in counting methods, and there is a possibility that some individuals not included in KT’s announcement are included in the police investigation.

Meanwhile, KT is reportedly considering holding an additional briefing to provide further updates on the damage resulting from this incident.
