According to the Gyeonggi Province Fire and Disaster Headquarters, the fire occurred at around 11:19 p.m. on October 11 at Cheongpyeong Donghae Hoe Susan Restaurant (a neighborhood living facility).

The fire claimed the lives of a family of four, including two men and women in their 40s who ran the restaurant, as well as a teenage boy and girl.

The fire authorities immediately issued Response Level 1 and began rescue operations and efforts to prevent the fire from spreading. After searching the interior, the rescue team found four people inside the building, all in cardiac arrest. They were transported to the hospital, where their deaths were confirmed.

The deceased were identified as the married couple who operated the restaurant (a 49-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman), their 15-year-old son who was a middle school student, and their 16-year-old daughter who was a high school student.

A fire department official stated, "When we arrived at the scene, the flames had already spread significantly, making it difficult to prevent casualties." The official added, "We are currently investigating the exact cause of the fire and the point of ignition."

The police and fire authorities plan to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the fire through a joint investigation with the National Forensic Service.
