Jo Ju-wan, CEO of LG Electronics, emphasized the importance of growth to his juniors at his alma mater, Pusan National University.
According to LG Electronics on October 3, CEO Jo delivered a special lecture commemorating the 30th anniversary of industry-academia cooperation at the Mechanical Engineering Building of Pusan National University the previous day. He said, "The most important thing from the time I joined Goldstar in 1987 until I became CEO was not success, but growth," adding, "No matter where you are, it is necessary to keep learning and expanding your capacity."
As a member of the class of 1981 in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Pusan National University, he advised, "You are the owners of your lives and the leaders of all the work you will do in the future. Setting goals, taking action, and taking responsibility for both success and failure-these experiences will become your weapons for the future."

He explained, "The PuriCare 360˚, which opened a new market for air purifiers, started with the lifestyle of customers who open their windows while using air purifiers. The key is to realize the experiences customers want, rather than focusing solely on technological efficiency." He also mentioned the future mobility concept 'LG Alphable,' saying, "Our research goal is to create an environment where passengers can feel as if they are riding in an autonomous vehicle, even when there is an actual driver."
CEO Jo is also dedicated to talent management, including securing outstanding overseas talent and giving special lectures to university students. Last year, he hosted the North America Tech Conference in California, and this year, he delivered a special lecture at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Seoul National University and attended the LG Tech Conference.
Meanwhile, LG Electronics has decided to strengthen its industry-academia cooperation with Pusan National University through this event. The two parties signed a business agreement to jointly pursue research on future core technologies, foster outstanding talent, and create new businesses.
