Pohang City is preparing a wide array of attractions and diverse hands-on programs for the Chuseok holiday, making every effort to welcome returning residents and tourists from across the country.


For the convenience of visitors, the city will offer free public parking near markets during the holiday period, and has prepared special benefits such as accommodation discount events through leisure platforms and a 40% discount on night tourism products.


On Chuseok day, October 6, major tourist destinations such as Bogyeongsa Temple, Sabang Memorial Park, Spacewalk, Oeosa Dulle-gil Trail, Igari Anchor Observatory, Haesang Skywalk, and the Homigot New Millennium Memorial Hall will all operate as usual. Notably, the Homigot New Millennium Memorial Hall will be open to the public free of charge from October 3 to October 9.

To ensure that citizens, returning residents, and tourists can use the parks safely and comfortably, key facilities at Hwanho Park will operate as usual. Pohang’s iconic attraction, Spacewalk, will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the holiday period, with hours subject to flexible adjustment depending on the weather. The attraction will be closed on October 13, the day after the holiday period ends.


In addition, with the official opening of the Hwanho Park Botanical Garden-a core facility of the private park special project-on September 30, the city is preparing to offer citizens and tourists a natural relaxation space in the heart of the city during the holiday. Admission to the botanical garden is 1,500 won for Pohang residents, reflecting a 50% discount, and the garden will be closed on Chuseok day.


A variety of cultural events are also planned. At Yeonorang Seonyeo Theme Park, traditional folk games and the special exhibition “Drawing the Moon” will be held. At Guryongpo Ara Art Village and the Gwamegi Culture Center, visitors can enjoy folk game experiences and exhibitions, while the National Lighthouse Museum will host the “Lighthouse Playground” program for children and families.

Furthermore, on the final weekend of the holiday, October 11 and 12, the Yeonorang Seonyeo Theme Park will host Pohang’s representative traditional festival, the Ilwol Cultural Festival, featuring folk music competitions, traditional Korean music performances, Silla costume experiences, and a range of other traditional cultural events expected to attract both domestic and international tourists.


Mayor Lee Kangdeok stated, “We have prepared events throughout Pohang, which is emerging as a city of culture and tourism, for families to enjoy together. I hope that during this Chuseok holiday, both tourists and citizens will experience Pohang’s attractive tourism resources and intergenerational events, and enjoy a warm and abundant holiday.”
