"Nature's Health for Your Body"... Yeongyang County to Host the 4th Subi Neungi Mushroom Festival

Yeongyang County in North Gyeongsang Province will host the 4th Subi Neungi Mushroom Festival over two days, from October 3 to October 4, at the Subimyeon Sports Park and surrounding areas.

This festival is organized by the Subimyeon Festival Committee and has established itself as a signature local event, featuring resident-led participation.

The neungi mushroom has long been considered a rare and highly aromatic delicacy, often referred to as "Neungi first, Songi second." Subimyeon in Yeongyang County, known for its pristine natural environment, is recognized nationwide as one of the premier production areas for neungi mushrooms.

This year's festival features a variety of programs designed for both residents and visitors to enjoy together. Festivities will begin with a celebratory performance by the Twelve Janggu Drum Academy, followed by unique and entertaining events such as a neungi mushroom beer drinking contest, a group singing competition, a nutrition-packed sports day, and a creative two-line poetry contest themed after the traditional civil service examination.

Additionally, there will be a singing contest for Subimyeon residents and an opening celebration stage, ensuring the festival is filled with food, entertainment, and activities, promising visitors a truly memorable experience.

Visitors to the festival will also have the special opportunity to explore Yeongyang County's top tourist attractions, including the Jukpari birch forest in Subimyeon-the largest of its kind in the country-and the International Dark Sky Park, renowned for its pristine natural beauty. This offers a unique chance to enjoy both the festival and the county's renowned sights at the same time.
