170m Skybridge Connecting the 51st Floors: "Lotte Castle De Mer" Impresses Experts from Korea, China, and Japan

Lotte Construction announced on October 2 that it had invited more than 30 domestic and international supertall building experts to showcase the 170-meter-high skybridge at "Lotte Castle De Mer" in Dong-gu, Busan.

The experts who visited the site are professionals from Korea, China, and Japan, working in the fields of supertall building regulations, policies, and safety. They toured the skybridge of "Lotte Castle De Mer" in person.

"Lotte Castle De Mer" is a 59-story supertall residential facility, uniquely designed with two towers connected at the 51st floor. The skybridge was assembled on the ground first and then installed using a lift-up method to raise it to the upper levels of both buildings. During this process, strand jack equipment was used to hoist the ultra-heavy structure to the high floors.

One of the experts who visited the site commented, "The exterior of 'Lotte Castle De Mer,' located near the Busan Port International Passenger Terminal, reminded me of the Arc de Triomphe," adding, "The construction method of assembling the skybridge at 170 meters above ground to connect the two buildings was very impressive."

The visiting group came to Korea to attend the "2025 China-Japan-Korea Tall Building Forum," organized by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat Korea (CTBUH Korea). In addition to "Lotte Castle De Mer," they also toured other supertall and special building sites in the North Port redevelopment zone, which is a major project promoted by Busan City.

A representative from Lotte Construction stated, "It is meaningful to have been able to host domestic and international supertall building experts at 'Lotte Castle De Mer,' where the skybridge has been installed," and added, "We will continue to actively apply supertall construction technology to various buildings and reward our customers with outstanding quality."
