President Donald Trump of the United States announced on the 30th (local time) in front of U.S. military generals that he would strengthen America's nuclear capabilities.
On this day, at the Joint Commanders’ Meeting held at the Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia, President Trump stated, "I have rebuilt our nuclear capabilities, and I will upgrade them further in the future."
He added, "That power is tremendous," emphasizing, "We must always hope never to use it."
Additionally, President Trump explained, "Recently, we received some threats from Russia, so I sent the most lethal nuclear submarine ever created." This remark referred to his directive on the 1st of last month to deploy two nuclear submarines to appropriate regions in response to Russia's nuclear threats.
He also claimed, "We are 25 years ahead of Russia and China in the field of submarines," stating that Russia ranks second and China third. He further commented, "They are far behind in the nuclear field as well, but in five years, they will be on par with us."
Regarding the war between Russia and Ukraine, President Trump said, "President (Vladimir) Putin of Russia and President (Volodymyr) Zelensky of Ukraine must be brought together to resolve the issue," adding, "However, power is the only way. If we were weak, they would not even have taken my call," once again emphasizing the importance of America's strong military power.
Concerning the Nobel Peace Prize, which he has often expressed a desire to win as a self-proclaimed mediator of global conflicts, President Trump said, "They will give the award to someone who has done nothing, and that would be a great insult to our country," adding, "I want our nation to receive the award."
