Pohang City Companion Animal Culture Festival to Be Held at Manindang Lawn Square on October 11-12

Pohang City will host the 9th Pohang City Companion Animal Culture Festival at the Manindang Lawn Square from October 11 to 12, 2025.

The festival will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on October 11 and from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on October 12, with the official opening ceremony scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on October 11.

Since 2014, the city has been organizing the Companion Animal Culture Festival to promote the development of the pet industry and establish a mature companion animal culture. This year, the event will be expanded to two days to encourage greater participation from pet owners.

At the venue, a variety of programs will be available for both pet owners and citizens, including agility demonstrations by trained dogs, a companion dog olympics, pet fitness experiences, and free animal registration. There will also be opportunities to share practical care know-how through emergency care lectures, home care grooming classes, and trainer talk shows.

In particular, the festival will feature booths selling handmade pet treats and pet products operated by young pet entrepreneurs, as well as booths promoting pet insurance and healthcare. A pet industry expo will also be held, which is expected to contribute to revitalizing the local economy.

Mayor Lee Kangdeok stated, "As the number of citizens raising companion animals increases, it is important to establish a companion animal culture in daily life. I hope this festival will serve as a venue for unity enjoyed by both pet owners and citizens, and as an opportunity for the growth of the local pet industry."
