Drunk Man in His 30s Crashes Stolen Car into Utility Pole, Booked Without Detention

A man in his 30s, who was intoxicated, was apprehended by the police after he crashed a sedan into a utility pole while driving a vehicle that had been left idling on the road.

The Gwangju Bukbu Police Station announced on September 30 that they had booked Mr. A without detention on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act. Mr. A is accused of causing an accident at approximately 10:44 p.m. the previous day while driving a Carnival vehicle owned by someone else on a road near Unam Market in Buk-gu.


According to the investigation, Mr. A, who was intoxicated, got into a vehicle that was left running while walking down the street, and immediately drove off, crashing into a utility pole. The police, who responded to the scene, measured his blood alcohol concentration at a level high enough to warrant license revocation.


Mr. A reportedly told the police, "I got into someone else's car because I was drunk." The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
