On September 30, the Korea Post announced that it will implement measures to support vendors who are inevitably facing sales losses as the Post Office Shopping service has been suspended due to the fire at the National Information Resources Service.

It is estimated that, prior to the Chuseok holiday, the sales losses suffered by small business owners on the Post Office Shopping platform due to the fire could reach approximately 12.6 billion won across as many as 2,400 vendors.

To assist these vendors, the Korea Post will first operate a "Post Office Shopping Vendor Damage Reporting Center" until the end of next month to assess the damage status for each vendor.

The reporting center will be staffed with dedicated professionals and operated through a hotline via phone and email. The Korea Post plans to directly purchase products from vendors who, according to reports, have suffered significant losses or need to quickly clear inventory, particularly in the food sector. The scale of direct purchases will amount to about 1.1 billion won.

Even after the Chuseok holiday, the Korea Post will allocate an additional 2.2 billion won to purchase products from affected vendors for use as promotional items for postal savings and insurance. It will also support additional sales by opening up sales channels that were blocked due to the suspension of the Post Office Shopping service, through special online events in partnership with external online shopping malls.

In particular, to provide holiday funds to vendors, the Korea Post will advance the payment of 7.3 billion won in sales settlement funds, originally scheduled for payment on October 5, to October 2. Additionally, after the Post Office Shopping platform resumes normal operations, sales commissions will be waived for one month, amounting to about 800 million won, the Korea Post emphasized.

Kwak Byungjin, acting head of the Korea Post, stated, "The difficulties faced by Post Office Shopping vendors have worsened following the fire at the National Information Resources Service. The Korea Post will mobilize all available resources to help these vendors recover from their losses."

Meanwhile, the Post Office Shopping service has remained suspended since the fire at the National Information Resources Service's Daejeon headquarters on September 26. While the Korea Post resumed most postal services closely related to daily life from September 29, it expects that it will be difficult to restart the Post Office Shopping service for the time being.
