KB Kookmin Bank announced on September 30 that it has expanded its 'KB Star Banking Overseas Payment Service' to the Philippines.
With this expansion, the bank explained that QR payments using KB Star Banking are now available at over 10,000 affiliated merchants in the Philippines.
The KB Star Banking Overseas Payment Service is offered through a partnership with GLN, a global payment network provider. Currently, convenient and secure local payments using QR codes are available in 11 countries and regions, including Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, Laos, Guam, Saipan, and Hawaii.
Notably, this service is the first among QR payment platforms to offer a 100% exchange rate benefit by allowing the use of foreign currency points. Customers can exchange these foreign currency points at their convenience, and they are automatically deducted in local currency when making overseas payments. This enables customers to enjoy both exchange rate benefits and reduced fees, making for more reasonable payments.
To celebrate the service expansion, KB Kookmin Bank is holding an event until November 2. During the event period, customers who use the service in the Philippines will receive 10% cashback on their first payment (up to 30,000 won). A KB Kookmin Bank representative stated, "We will continue to drive customer-centered service innovation in the future."
