Ulsan Eliya Hospital, led by Hospital Director Jung Younghwan, has been actively providing medical support at local sports events held this autumn, receiving positive feedback from participants.
On September 28, over 3,000 local residents gathered at the Nongso Sports Complex in Buk-gu, Ulsan for the 'Buk-gu Residents One-Heart Sports Festival,' the largest sports event in the region, which celebrated its 23rd anniversary this year.
For this sports festival, hosted by the Buk-gu Ulsan Sports Association (headed by Kim Taemin) and sponsored by Buk-gu Ulsan, Ulsan Eliya Hospital provided an ambulance, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure prompt treatment of emergency cases and the safe operation of the event.
Kim Eunju, Head Nurse who participated in the medical support for this sports festival, said, "I am very pleased to be able to take part in a sports festival for Buk-gu residents as a member of a leading local medical institution," adding, "Ulsan Eliya Hospital will continue to stand with the community as a comprehensive hospital dedicated to serving local residents."
Prior to this event, on September 25, Ulsan Eliya Hospital dispatched staff to provide medical support at the '2025 Autumn Sports Festival for Working Adults with Developmental Disabilities,' held at the Ulsan Buk-gu Autovalley Welfare Center gymnasium. This event was organized by the Ulsan Buk-gu Lifelong Education Center for People with Developmental Disabilities (headed by Ryu Chunhee) as part of the 'Adult Developmental Disabilities Employment UP! Skills UP! Happiness UP!' initiative.
To prepare for possible safety incidents during the sports festival, Ulsan Eliya Hospital set up a temporary medical booth inside the gymnasium and provided emergency treatment and support for participants who were injured or unwell.
Jung Younghwan, Director of Ulsan Eliya Hospital, stated, "As autumn arrives each year, there is an increase in intense outdoor activities such as sports festivals, which raises the risk of musculoskeletal injuries. Since prompt treatment is crucial for muscle and joint injuries, we plan to continue providing medical support at various events so that local residents can safely and healthily enjoy the autumn season."
Director Jung, an orthopedic specialist, also advised, "As the weather cools, joints and muscles become less flexible, making it easier to get injured even from minor impacts. Therefore, stretching before and after exercise is essential for injury prevention."
With the number of autumn festivals and outdoor events expected to increase in October, Ulsan Eliya Hospital anticipates a higher demand for medical support. The hospital plans to form the 'Eliya Medical Volunteer Support Team,' led by the nursing department and the medical cooperation team, to provide systematic medical support at these events.
