On the 26th, Ansan City announced on the 29th that it had held a groundbreaking ceremony for the 'Seongpo Square Redevelopment Project' in the Seongpo Square area.

This project aims to transform the Seongpo Square area, which was established over 30 years ago, into a landmark cultural and arts hub in connection with the opening of Seongpo Station on the Sinansan Line.

The city will invest a total of 9.7 billion won to completely redevelop the square. The area will feature a ramp and elevators connecting the north and south sides of the square, a musical fountain, family and children's rest areas and playgrounds, an outdoor stage and media facade, as well as nighttime landscape lighting.

Before launching the project, the city explained that it incorporated 123 suggestions from residents and experts into the plan through four public briefings and on-site presentations.

Lee Minguen, Mayor of Ansan, stated, "We plan to develop Seongpo Square as a hub for culture, arts, and relaxation, connecting the Seongpo Station area on the Sinansan Line with the surrounding commercial district," adding, "We will ensure that it is reborn as a premier square that drives local economic revitalization."
