President Lee's Approval Rating at 52%, Disapproval at 44.1%

President Lee Jaemyung's approval rating for his administration has declined for the third consecutive week. Concerns over the South Korea-U.S. tariff negotiations and controversy surrounding pressure on the judiciary appear to have contributed to the drop in support. The decline in approval was particularly notable in regions considered casting votes, such as Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (PK), Seoul, and Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungcheong.


According to a public opinion poll released by Realmeter on the 29th (commissioned by Energy Economy News, conducted from the 22nd to the 26th among 2,527 voters aged 18 and older nationwide via automated wireless phone response, with a margin of error of ±1.9 percentage points at a 95% confidence level and a response rate of 4.8%), President Lee's approval rating for state affairs was 52.0%, down 1 percentage point from the previous week. The disapproval rating was 44.1%, up 0.5 percentage points.

In particular, the approval rating in PK dropped by 4.5 percentage points (from 48.8% to 44.3%), in Seoul by 3.7 percentage points (from 52.1% to 48.4%), and in the Chungcheong region by 2.8 percentage points (from 52.6% to 49.8%), respectively.


In the party approval ratings (commissioned by Energy Economy News, conducted from the 25th to the 26th among 1,010 voters aged 18 and older nationwide via automated wireless phone response, with a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level and a response rate of 3.9%), support for the Democratic Party of Korea fell by 0.9 percentage points to 43.3%. The People Power Party also dropped by 0.3 percentage points to 38.3%. The Reform Party recorded 3.4%, and the Cho Kuk Innovation Party stood at 3.0%.
