The festival was organized into three themed zones: "Light of Happiness," "Light of Life," and "Light of Coexistence." Visitors enjoyed a stamp tour, experiencing various activities and performances while soaking in the autumn night atmosphere.
Highlights included the Citizen Pungnyuhoe, where locals took the stage, a musical gala show, and a night stroll performance featuring magic and bubble shows. Throughout the festival grounds, diverse nighttime illuminations such as the Cheongsachorong Path, the Return of the Gray Whale Hanji Lantern, Lantern Road, and the 1918 Forail Photo Zone lit up the railway forest.
Interactive programs like moon lantern making, plogging experiences, a playground for pets, and a retro playground were especially popular with families. The addition of a flea market and street performances filled the autumn night in the city center with romance.
The opening ceremony at Hanteo Madang under the Daejam Overpass featured a pre-ceremony performance by the Pohang Youth Choir, a sand art show themed "From the City of Steel to the Green Forest," and the "Autumn Night Harmony Concert" with performances by popular singers V.O.S and Beomjin, providing unforgettable memories for citizens and tourists alike.
In particular, the "Return of the Gray Whale" Hanji lantern told the story of the gray whale, once a symbol of peaceful Yeongil Bay, which disappeared during industrialization but is now returning alongside Pohang’s transformation into an eco-friendly city, adding special significance to the railway forest.
A family visiting the railway forest commented, "The railway forest, where we usually take walks, felt like a completely different place, filled with dazzling lights and performances for the festival. We were able to take photos and enjoy various experiences with our children, making wonderful memories."
Mayor Lee Kangdeok stated, "The Railway Forest Night Tour has become a signature nighttime festival for Pohang, filling the city with light and emotion. We will continue to enhance Pohang’s status as a K-Tourism city and contribute to revitalizing the local economy by developing diverse content that showcases the unique charm of the railway forest."
