Hyundai Ioniq 9 Named to WardsAuto "10 Best Engines" List

The powertrain system installed in Hyundai Motor Group's dedicated electric vehicle platform, E-GMP, has been selected as one of the world's top 10 engines for the fourth consecutive year.

On September 28, Hyundai Motor Company announced that the powertrain system of the Ioniq 9 had been named one of the "2025 WardsAuto 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems" by the American automotive media outlet WardsAuto. Vehicles equipped with the E-GMP platform have been selected for four consecutive years: the Ioniq 5 in 2022, the Ioniq 6 in 2023, and the Ioniq 5 N in 2024, followed now by the Ioniq 9 in 2025.

The judging panel evaluated 28 powertrains installed in new vehicles sold in the United States, comprehensively assessing performance, efficiency, and technological capabilities to select the final 10 powertrains.

The Ioniq 9 powertrain system received high marks for its excellent power performance, single-charge driving range, and advanced driving technologies. Based on the E-GMP platform, the Ioniq 9 is equipped with a high-capacity 110.3kWh battery, enabling all models to provide a single-charge driving range of over 500 kilometers.

The rear-wheel drive 2WD long-range model delivers a maximum output of 160kW, maximum torque of 350Nm, energy efficiency of 4.3km/kWh, and a single-charge driving range of 532 kilometers, demonstrating outstanding performance.

The AWD long-range model offers a maximum output of 226kW, maximum torque of 605Nm, energy efficiency of 4.1km/kWh, and a single-charge driving range of 503 kilometers. The AWD performance model achieves a maximum output of 315kW, maximum torque of 700Nm, energy efficiency of 4.1km/kWh, and a single-charge driving range of 501 kilometers, securing excellent performance.

Since the first-generation Genesis (BH) equipped with a gasoline 4.6L Tau engine in 2008, Hyundai Motor Group has won a total of 19 awards for the top 10 engines, demonstrating its technological prowess in the powertrain sector.

Through the E-GMP platform's excellent power performance, single-charge driving range, and fast rapid charging speed, we will provide customers with an even more perfect EV experience."
