Namwon City Receives Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award for Contributions to National Spatial Information Development

Namwon City in North Jeolla Province announced on the 26th that it received the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award for National Spatial Information Development at the '2025 K-Geo Festa' hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The city was recognized for its diligent implementation of spatial information-based policy projects, making significant contributions to the activation of national spatial information. In particular, Namwon City received high marks for actively promoting various public projects, including the Basic Administrative District Spatial Information Construction Project, the High-Precision Digital Topographic Map Production Project, and the Digital Map for Tactile Cultural Exploration for the Visually Impaired, thereby building highly valuable spatial information.

Recently, the city was also selected as a final winner in the 2026 High-Precision Electronic Map Challenge, a public project hosted by the National Geographic Information Institute, securing 1 billion won in national funding. Moving forward, Namwon City plans to continue improving the quality of life for its citizens through advanced spatial information-based policies.

A city official stated, "Winning the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award is recognition of the achievements of Namwon City's spatial information policies," adding, "We will continue to actively utilize spatial information to strengthen regional competitiveness and enhance the happiness of our citizens."
