On September 24, Shinhan Card announced that it will issue a metal plate card to commemorate surpassing 2.5 million cumulative issuances of the 'Shinhan Card SOL Travel Check' card.
The limited edition metal card is a physical card that can be used for actual payments and comes in two types: a gold version shaped like a coin and a silver version shaped like a travel suitcase.
Only 500 cards will be issued, with 250 cards available for each design. The cards can be obtained by participating in an event. The event, which runs until October 17, consists of two missions: a spot-the-difference game and using the card both domestically and internationally.
In the spot-the-difference event, participants must find three differences in the SOL Travel Check Card image. There are also missions that involve using the card for purchases: spending at least 10,000 won domestically for stage 1, at least 30,000 won domestically for stage 2, and at least 50,000 won overseas for stage 3. The more missions participants complete, the higher their chances of winning.
There is no separate issuance fee. Customers who hold the Japan travel-specialized product 'Shinhan Card SOL Travel J' are also eligible to participate in the event.
The SOL Travel Check Card offers benefits such as preferential exchange rates for 42 currencies worldwide, exemption from overseas usage and ATM fees, airport lounge services, a 5% discount at the four major convenience stores in Korea, and discounts on domestic public transportation.
Shinhan Card has issued 2.5 million cards just 1 year and 8 months after launching the SOL Travel Check Card in February last year. The card is currently being used in 189 countries, with cumulative transaction amounts reaching 4 trillion won.
A Shinhan Card representative stated, "The card is being chosen by customers who want to make rational purchases not only for overseas travel but also for domestic spending with just one card."
