Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Younghyeon) announced on the 24th that it received 67 million won in disaster recovery financial support for special disaster areas from the Korea Local Finance Association (Outdoor Advertising Center Director Cha Byeongjun), a local finance agency under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, on the 23rd.
The city annually enrolls its public assets in disaster recovery mutual aid for buildings and facilities through the Korea Local Finance Association, aiming to minimize losses from unexpected incidents such as fires, natural disasters, or collapses due to building deterioration.
Since 2012, the Korea Local Finance Association has provided disaster recovery support amounting to 30% of the previous year's mutual aid contributions for buildings and facilities to local governments declared as special disaster areas. This is part of its efforts to promote community development, strengthen support for member local governments, and return the profits from its mutual aid programs.
Cha Byeongjun, Director of the Outdoor Advertising Center at the Korea Local Finance Association, who attended the handover ceremony, said, "I hope that this financial support will provide at least some assistance for Pocheon City's prompt disaster recovery."
Baek Younghyeon, Mayor of Pocheon City, stated, "I am grateful for the support from the Korea Local Finance Association. The financial support will help restore facilities damaged by the recent heavy rainfall," adding, "We will continue to do our best to protect the safety of our citizens and the city's public assets."
