Seo-gu, Gwangju is operating a 'Silver Exercise Class' in connection with the Gwangju Health University RISE project to promote healthy aging for seniors.
According to Seo-gu on the 24th, this program has been prepared for 110 seniors aged 65 and older. Its aim is to strengthen the local health management system based on integrated care and to create an environment where seniors can take charge of their own health.

원본보기 아이콘The classes will be held once a week until November 28, for a total of 10 sessions. Participants will attend at one of eight locations, including the Pungam, Kumho 1, and Hwajeong 2 Administrative Welfare Centers, where they will learn practical health exercises under the guidance of professional instructors. The curriculum includes fall prevention education, posture and body alignment exercises, resistance band workouts, and self-directed muscle strengthening programs.
Those who complete the program will be dispatched as Senior Exercise Instructors (Health Activists) to facilities serving vulnerable groups in the community, such as senior centers, health support centers, and dementia care centers, where they will lead health exercise sessions.
Park Yonggeum, Head of the Care Policy Division, stated, "The Silver Exercise Class is a meaningful program that helps seniors enjoy a healthy and safe later life. We will continue to expand various customized welfare and health policies so that seniors can grow as health activists within the local community."
