No Toll Fees for Eulsukdo Bridge and Sanseong Tunnel in Busan During Commuting Hours

Busan City to Gradually Expand Toll-Free Policy on City Roads

The toll fees for Eulsukdo Bridge and Sanseong Tunnel in Busan will be exempted during commuting hours.

The Busan Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Hyungjoon) announced on September 23 that, starting November 1, vehicles using these two roads will not be charged toll fees during weekday morning commuting hours from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and evening commuting hours from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This exemption does not apply on Saturdays, Sundays, or public holidays.

The city explained that this measure is being implemented as a practical policy to support citizens in light of economic instability and rising living costs. Initially, the exemption will apply to Eulsukdo Bridge and Sanseong Tunnel, which serve areas with limited access to urban rail and other public transportation. The city plans to analyze the impact and consider expanding the exemption to other toll roads based on the results.

Currently, there are seven toll roads in Busan: Sujeongsan Tunnel, Eulsukdo Bridge, Geoga Expressway, Busan Harbor Bridge, Sanseong Tunnel, Cheonma Tunnel, and Gwangan Expressway. The toll exemption will apply to all vehicles without the need for any prior registration procedures.

Additionally, the city will fully exempt toll fees on all seven city toll roads for four days, from October 4 to October 7, during the Chuseok holiday period.

Since 2022, Busan has implemented a continuous toll discount system for all toll roads, and in January of this year, made Baekyang Tunnel toll-free. Recently, the city also announced a toll support program for Garak Tollgate during commuting hours, which is scheduled to be implemented in June next year.

Mayor Park Hyungjoon stated, "We have gradually reduced the burden of toll fees in response to citizens' demands. I hope that making tolls free during commuting hours will help reduce living expenses for citizens and revitalize the local economy. We will continue working to ensure that more citizens can use the roads conveniently and economically."
