Gwangju Science Museum to Hold Special Chuseok Astronomical Event "Chuseok Moonlight Walk"

The National Gwangju Science Museum announced on September 23 that it will hold a special astronomical event, "Chuseok Moonlight Walk," on October 5 to celebrate Chuseok.

On that night, the full moon, which rises on the 15th day of the lunar calendar, will appear alongside Saturn in the sky. Participants will also be able to observe Vega in the constellation Lyra, Altair in Aquila, and Deneb in Cygnus, which connects the two stars.

Attendees can view the round full moon directly through astronomical telescopes. Using the 1.2-meter large telescope and smart telescopes at the Starlight Observatory, they will also be able to see the moon's craters. This year, Saturn is at its closest point to Earth, offering a rare opportunity to view the planet in a larger and brighter state.

The event will take place on October 5 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Participation is available through online reservation and will be canceled in case of rain.
