The LG Twin Towers are considered a prime viewing spot, as they offer a panoramic view of Yeouido Hangang Park, where the fireworks festival is held.
About 2,000 employees applied for this invitation event, resulting in a highly competitive 25:1 selection ratio, with 80 teams chosen by lottery. On the day of the fireworks festival, LG Electronics plans to increase building management staff and deploy volunteers throughout the viewing areas to ensure safety. Online, people expressed envy with comments such as, “This is why they call it a major corporation,” “If you have to be a servant, better to serve a noble house,” “As expected of LG,” and “The class of a major company.”
LG Electronics also offers a wide range of welfare programs that employees can experience directly. A representative example is the complimentary rental program for premium company vehicles. Vehicles such as the Genesis G90, G80, and Carnival Limousine, which are used for work purposes, are lent to employees free of charge over the weekend.
Additionally, when there is no business demand, premium and table seat tickets for LG Twins home games are provided to employees at no cost. Family invitation events are also held annually. In May, around 3,000 employees’ and partner company staff’s family members were invited to LG Science Park in Magok for various hands-on activities. This approach is interpreted as an effort to actively utilize internal assets to enhance employees’ quality of life.
Through these welfare programs, LG Electronics hopes employees will create special memories with their families and naturally develop a sense of belonging and pride. A company representative stated, “We will continue to operate various programs for employees to foster a family-friendly workplace culture.”
Experts assess that LG Electronics’ welfare enhancements are not merely an “expansion of benefits” but an investment in attracting talent and promoting long-term retention. In particular, as Millennials & Gen Z job seekers value work-life balance and welfare as much as salary, LG Electronics’ strategy is expected to directly boost its recruitment competitiveness and corporate image. There is a growing consensus that major corporations’ welfare programs are evolving beyond employee satisfaction to serve as a driving force for future corporate growth.
