Hanul Semiconductor announced on September 22 that it will begin full-scale development of a high-performance press mark inspection machine based on artificial intelligence (AI) inspection technology. The company possesses experience and expertise as the first in Korea to develop and supply press mark inspection machines for displays.
This equipment can detect defects in press marks that occur during the display manufacturing process with high precision. It is considered an essential piece of core equipment in the post-processing stage of display production.
The press mark inspection machine utilizes a specialized optical device, distinct from conventional machine vision inspection optics. Through this, it captures press mark images and analyzes their profiles to precisely measure the distribution, strength, and length of conductive balls. By determining the presence of defects, it verifies the bonding status of panels, chips, and films, thereby enhancing quality reliability.
Notably, this equipment will be equipped with a high-resolution optical system and an AI-based defect recognition algorithm. With these features, the company plans to significantly improve inspection accuracy and processing speed compared to existing equipment. Additionally, a smart quality management function will be implemented to analyze inspection results in real time and provide immediate feedback to the production line.
Hanul Semiconductor recently completed vendor registration with a major domestic display company, referred to as Company L, for the production and sale of press mark inspection machines. The company is also in supply discussions with a large overseas display manufacturer, referred to as Company B, and plans to accelerate its entry into related markets.
A company representative stated, "Press mark inspection machines require advanced technology that goes beyond simple appearance inspection to ensure bonding quality and electrical reliability. We believe the global display inspection equipment market will grow to over 10 trillion won by 2030, driven by the expansion of flexible products."
The representative added, "Based on our integrated AI solution, 'HawAIe,' we will introduce equipment that simultaneously enhances inspection accuracy and operational efficiency."
