UNIST (President Park Jongrae) will hold the "2025 UNIST Creative Design Festival" at its main campus for two days, from September 26 to 27.

UNIST has grown into a world-class research-oriented university with the support of the local community. This festival will be held as a science and culture event to showcase the knowledge and technology accumulated so far, and to share creative achievements with the public.

President Park Jongrae has emphasized that "UNIST is a platform where everyone can dream, imagine, and pioneer." This event serves as a stage to realize that vision. It is expected to be an opportunity for students' original ideas and outcomes to connect with society and spread, while the university and the local community nurture future scientific talent as partners.

The theme of this year's festival is "Science ON," meaning to turn on the switch of science. The event will feature exhibitions of design projects and research achievements by UNIST students, and expand programs that allow local elementary, middle, and high school students, teachers, and parents to participate and experience science firsthand.

The highlight of the festival is the "Creative Design Exhibition," where UNIST students' innovative ideas shine. Over 70 science exhibits and research experience booths will be set up in the Engineering Building lobby and the main building plaza.

Cutting-edge fields such as AI, renewable energy, semiconductors, quantum science, biotechnology, and neuroscience will be showcased at a glance. Participants can visit the booths to experience science directly, and those who collect stamps can receive commemorative gifts.

In particular, the "Science Dreamers Exhibition Booth" will display creative works by middle and high school students from the Ulsan region. This meaningful opportunity will allow youth and UNIST students to interact and exchange ideas in science and engineering.

Talk concerts by renowned speakers will also take place. On the first day, UNIST Distinguished Professor Lee Jiyeong will give a lecture on "The Power to Make Dreams Come True." This will be followed by Jung Jaehyung from the YouTube channel Pisik University, who will meet the public with a talk titled "Introduction to Nerd Studies: The Birth and Growth of Nerds."

Starting at 2 p.m., the "Ulsan Hanmaeum Play" will be held on the Engineering Building lawn. This is a cooperative activity inspired by the Squid Game concept. UNIST members and citizens will come together to strengthen community spirit and enjoy campus culture.

In the evening, the lawn will be transformed into an outdoor cinema. Visitors can sit on mats, enjoy food truck fare, and watch the "Autumn Starlight Science Film Festival."

On the second day, UNIST Distinguished Professor Lee Sedol will take the stage. His talk will focus on "Challenge, and the Move of God." This will be followed by a science magic show and a bubble show in the main auditorium and on the lawn.

Additionally, busking and cultural performances prepared by students will fill the main administration plaza. Music, dance, and theater will be presented in turn, heightening the festive atmosphere. A picnic zone will also be available for anyone to relax and enjoy.

Campus tours will be offered on both days, providing a 30-minute program to visit the UNIST Research Equipment Education & Support Center and research facilities. On-site registration is available for those who wish to participate.

This year's festival carries special significance as it is held in collaboration with the local community. All programs are free and open to the public.

President Park Jongrae stated, "Through this festival, students' stories of growth will permeate the lives of citizens," adding, "As a university that coexists with the region, UNIST aims to share the value of science and technology, and spread its joy and inspiration far and wide."

This event is hosted by UNIST and sponsored by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, Kyungdong Scholarship Foundation, Korea East-West Power, and Korea National Oil Corporation. Detailed schedules can be found on the UNIST website.
