On September 18 at 2:00 p.m., Ulsan City will hold a meeting of the "RE100 Industrial Complex Promotion Task Force (TF)" in the conference room on the 3rd floor of Annex 1 at Ulsan City Hall. This strategic meeting is being held to proactively respond to the promotion of this industrial complex, which has been selected as a key national policy initiative by the new administration.
The purpose of this meeting is to identify institutional improvement measures in advance and propose bottom-up legislation, so that Ulsan’s regional conditions and current status can be reflected in the process of enacting the special law being promoted by the government.
The meeting will be attended by about 10 people, including Lee Jaegon, Director of Urban Affairs, officials from Ulsan City, and representatives from the Ulsan Development Institute. The agenda includes the signing of a research service agreement, progress reports by department, and an open discussion on current issues.
The "RE100 Industrial Complex Basic Concept Research Service," which is being launched on this day, will be conducted by the Ulsan Development Institute, starting this month and scheduled for completion by the end of next year, with a project budget of 100 million won.
The main research topics include a basic survey of industrial complex conditions, identification of candidate sites and analysis of site feasibility, examination of institutional measures to ensure that Ulsan’s conditions are reflected in the enactment of the "Special Act on the Establishment and Support of RE100 Industrial Complexes and Energy New Towns," and the identification of institutional improvement tasks.
The task force is composed of experts in urban planning, national industrial complexes, and the energy industry from relevant departments of Ulsan City and the Ulsan Development Institute’s urban space and economic industry sectors.
The main role of the task force is to identify institutional improvement tasks and coordinate with central government ministries until the special law is enacted at the end of this year. In addition, from next year onward, the task force plans to proceed with follow-up procedures, such as applying for designation as an "RE100 Industrial Complex."
An "RE100 Industrial Complex" is an industrial complex that fully meets the renewable energy demand of companies while maximizing the region’s renewable energy potential.
After the "RE100 Industrial Complex Promotion Plan" was announced at the Presidential Office’s Senior Secretary Meeting on July 10, it was designated as a key national policy initiative for the 21st new administration.
With the goal of preparing a plan for the establishment of the industrial complex and presenting a draft of the special law within this year, the government formed a pan-government task force on July 16, with the participation of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and other relevant ministries.
In line with this, Ulsan City also formed its own task force, including relevant departments and the Ulsan Development Institute, as of July 25, and will hold its first meeting on this day.
