Ulsan City, S-Oil, and Ulsan University Hospital Join Hands to Ensure Stable Operation of the "Doctor-Car"

On September 18 at 3:00 p.m., Ulsan City will hold a sponsorship ceremony with S-Oil in the main building's reception room at Ulsan City Hall, reaffirming their commitment to ensuring the stable operation of the Ulsan region's "Doctor-Car" emergency medical service.

Present at the ceremony will be Mayor Kim Dookyum, S-Oil President Park Bongsoo, and Ulsan University Hospital Deputy Director Han Myungwol.

The "Doctor-Car" is a specialized emergency medical system, distinct from regular ambulances, in which surgeons or emergency medicine specialists and nurses board the vehicle and provide on-site treatment and transport for severely injured patients.

The pilot operation of the service began at Ulsan University Hospital in September 2017, but was temporarily halted due to a lack of operating funds.

Since 2019, S-Oil has contributed 100 million won annually as part of its community outreach programs, and Ulsan City has provided an additional 20 million won each year. Thanks to this support, the service has been operating stably and continues to play a vital role in "on-site emergency medical care."

Notably, the Doctor-Car has been operated around the clock, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, over the past eight years-not merely as a transport vehicle, but as a life-saving initiative. It has been dispatched 172 times, successfully saving precious lives.

Mayor Kim Dookyum stated, "The Doctor-Car plays a critical role in the golden hour, saving the lives of severely injured patients. I am grateful to S-Oil and Ulsan University Hospital for their partnership in protecting the lives of Ulsan citizens, and I hope that public-private cooperation will continue to strengthen the emergency medical safety net."
