Amid an incident involving the assault of a Taiwanese YouTuber near Hongdae in Mapo-gu, Seoul, the police have launched a preliminary investigation (prior to formal booking).
On the 17th, the Mapo Police Station announced that it had initiated a preliminary investigation into the assault case involving a Taiwanese YouTuber that occurred near Hongdae in Mapo-gu.
According to the police, at around 5:20 a.m. on the 15th, a man in his 20s, initially reported to be Korean, assaulted two women, including a Taiwanese YouTuber identified as B, near Hongdae. However, the police investigation revealed that the man, identified as A, is actually a Chinese national.

After the incident, B claimed that she had been assaulted by a Korean man, posting photos of her bruises and other evidence on social media. She also revealed details of the assault on her YouTube channel, criticizing the Korean police for their inadequate response.
In response, the Taiwanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "The Taipei Representative Office in Korea has contacted the Korean police, requesting that the case be handled in accordance with the law, and will provide necessary support to A."
The police explained that they brought the man to the local police station for questioning and then released him, adding that they plan to investigate all parties involved to determine the exact motive behind the crime.
