Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province, in collaboration with the Changwon City Korean Pork Association, delivered 690 kilograms of Korean pork (worth approximately 11 million won) to 25 free meal centers in partnership with five district offices on September 17. This initiative was organized ahead of Chuseok, a traditional Korean holiday, to help underprivileged members of the local community enjoy a more abundant holiday.
Lee Jungho, President of the Changwon City Korean Pork Association and organizer of this event, stated, "We wanted to share the warm hearts of Korean pork farmers with neighbors who may feel even more isolated during the holidays," adding, "Although it is a small gesture, I hope this sharing helps everyone have a bountiful Chuseok."
Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, expressed gratitude to the Korean Pork Association for practicing sharing despite difficult circumstances such as rising feed prices, and announced, "Changwon City will continue to implement various policies to support the development of local pig farms."
Meanwhile, Changwon Special City and the Changwon City Korean Pork Association have continued this Korean pork sharing event every holiday season, and plan to keep working toward the sustainable development of the local pork industry in cooperation with the community.
