Ham Jungwoo is setting out to achieve two goals at once.
From September 18, for four days, he will compete for the title at the Golfzon Open on the Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Tour, held at Golfzon County Sunsan in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province (par 71, 7,100 yards), with a total prize fund of 1 billion won. Ham Jungwoo is the defending champion, having won this tournament last year. Through this event, he aims to secure back-to-back victories at the tournament and achieve his fifth career win.
If Ham Jungwoo wins, he will become the first player this year to achieve consecutive victories on the KPGA Tour. He expressed his determination, saying, "Since debuting on the KPGA Tour, I have never succeeded in defending a title. I am eager to do so this time."
The competition will be tough. Bae Sangmoon, a native of Daegu, will be aiming for his 10th career tour win at this year's first tournament in North Gyeongsang Province. His most recent KPGA Tour victory was at the 2014 Shinhan Donghae Open. Ok Taehun and Moon Doyeob are competing to become the first to claim three wins this season. In addition, Lee Taehun, a Korean-Canadian golfer who was runner-up at last week's Shinhan Donghae Open, will also be joining the field.
