This film festival is the only convergence cultural event in Korea that integrates cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the metaverse into film and the arts. It is expected to serve as an international stage for Pohang to expand its vision of becoming the “AI capital” of Korea into the cultural industry sector.

In particular, Pohang, which has been at the forefront of Korea’s AI industry transformation, will present a new urban paradigm as an “AI Cultural Convergence City” at this event, with plans to proactively broaden the horizons of AI integration.

Key programs include the AI Art Tech Awards, the GAMFF film screening, and director Q&A sessions (GV). Outside the venue, an AI experience zone will be set up, featuring AR and VR, an OLED TV video viewing area, and various AI-powered experiences such as a photo studio, beauty shop, fortune telling, personal assistant, and music producer.

Notably, at 12:00 p.m. on September 13, the animated film “King of Kings,” starring Lee Byunghun, Jin Seonkyu, and Lee Hanee, will be screened for free. On September 14 at 11:00 a.m., the film “Yadang,” starring Yoo Haejin, Kang Haneul, and Park Haejoon, will also be shown for free, drawing significant public interest.

Additionally, the GV sessions will offer in-depth appreciation opportunities, with director Pil Gamseong of “Zombie Daughter” and director Hwang Byeongguk of “Yadang” providing commentary on their works and answering audience questions.

The highlight of the event, the “AI Art Tech Awards,” will take place on the evening of September 13, with appearances by actor Oh Jiho, actor Won Gijun, broadcaster Park Jiyoon, and other notable figures. The red carpet will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the main awards ceremony at 6:00 p.m. A total of eight awards will be presented to domestic and international works that incorporate advanced technologies such as AI and visual effects (VFX).

Mayor Lee Kangdeok stated, “This film festival has provided an opportunity for Pohang to become a city where digital technology and cultural content grow together,” adding, “We will continue to strengthen our global competitiveness by focusing on both digital transformation and the development of the cultural industry.”
