On September 11, BNK Gyeongnam Bank signed the "Gyeongnam Metropolitan Visa Foreign Worker Financial Support Agreement" with the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The signing ceremony, held at the Gyeongnam Economic Forum, was attended by Kim Taehan, President of BNK Gyeongnam Bank, Choi Jaeho, Chairman of the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, representatives from member companies, heads of related organizations, and about 120 other participants.
Under the financial support agreement, the two organizations will provide tailored financial support to help foreign workers settle smoothly in Korea.
In particular, BNK Gyeongnam Bank will offer financial education and services required during the entry process for foreign workers, while the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry will provide support for these efforts.
In June, the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry was selected as the implementing agency for a regional foreign workforce support project and for supporting the settlement of outstanding foreign workers in the region, as part of a Gyeongsangnam-do initiative. To carry out these responsibilities, it opened the Gyeongnam Visa Support Center.
Kim Taehan, President of BNK Gyeongnam Bank, said, "I believe this agreement is a meaningful collaboration that lays the foundation for the joint growth of our region and local businesses by addressing the supply of foreign workers and improving settlement conditions. Foreign workers entering through the Gyeongnam Metropolitan Visa system are essential talents for the growth and competitiveness of our regional companies."
He added, "The stable settlement of foreign workers is directly linked to strengthening the competitiveness of local businesses. As the region's leading financial institution, BNK Gyeongnam Bank will continue to develop practical financial support measures so that foreign workers can live and work more securely in Korea."
BNK Gyeongnam Bank and the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry plan to continue their cooperation, prioritizing support for the settlement of foreign workers as a key task to assist local businesses.
Meanwhile, prior to this agreement with the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, BNK Gyeongnam Bank also signed an agreement with the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority on August 29, providing tailored financial support to foreign workers employed by companies located in the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone, thereby strengthening financial services for foreigners in the region.
