Korail Labor and Management Donate 50 Million Won for Gangneung Drought Relief

Korail and the Korean Railway Workers' Union announced on the 10th that they will provide a donation of 50 million won through the Korean Red Cross to support citizens of Gangneung affected by the drought.

The donation was raised through the Hope Railway Foundation, a public interest foundation jointly established by Korail and the railway union. It will be used to purchase daily necessities such as bottled water to help residents of the Gangneung area return to their normal lives.

Hong Younghee, Secretary General of the Railway Workers' Union, said, "We hope that our support will help the citizens of Gangneung who are suffering from the drought to recover their daily lives as soon as possible."

Kwon Youngjoo, Head of Human Resources Management at Korail, stated, "We wish for a swift recovery of daily life in the Gangneung area," and added, "In the future, whenever disasters or calamities occur, labor and management will join forces to support recovery efforts."

Korail has continued its social contribution activities, such as delivering donations to wildfire-affected areas in North Gyeongsang Province last April and providing free train rides for volunteers.
