However, she has been experiencing a championship drought for nearly five years, with her last victory coming at the Pelican Women's Championship in November 2020.
This year as well, she has demonstrated consistency by competing in 16 tournaments prior to this event and finishing in the top 10 on six occasions, although she has yet to secure a win. Recently, her momentum has been positive, having contended for the title in three out of her last four tournaments. She showcased her strength by finishing in the top three at the ISPS Handa Women's Scottish Open in July and the FM Championship on August 28.
At the FM Championship, Kim Se Young displayed impressive form by shooting 7-under par in both the first and second rounds. Her average driving distance of 256 yards and a 100% sand save rate stood out during the tournament. Notably, her putting has improved this season, ranking sixth with an average of 1.75 putts per hole when hitting the green in regulation. These factors have raised expectations for her long-awaited 13th career victory.
